Location:
Shawlands
Client:
Queens Cross Housing Association
Description:
A historic building in Glasgow had suffered from extensive roof tile damage due to wear and tear over several decades. The tiles were cracked, and several had come loose, exposing the roof structure to weather damage. Our team was tasked with restoring the roof’s integrity while ensuring the work met the building’s heritage standards.
Challenges:
The building was listed as a heritage site, meaning our work had to meet strict regulations on materials used and the overall appearance of the roof. We also faced limited access due to surrounding buildings and narrow streets.
Solution:
We used scaffolding and fall arrest systems to ensure the safety of our team while working at height. For the restoration, we sourced heritage-compliant roofing tiles to match the original materials. Our team worked diligently to replace all damaged tiles while maintaining the building’s historical integrity. The project was completed on time, meeting all regulatory standards, and the building was fully protected from future weather damage.
Equipment Used:
Scaffolding, Tile cutters, Fall arrest systems, Crane for heavy tile removal, Manual and powered tools for tile fitting
